Scratching the surface

Proposed as a research project into the ubiquitous (in Brighton) Edwardian green tile, this residency at ONCA became a psychogeographic exploration into the history of London clay. As I traced the geomorphology and social history of the material further back, following where the tube and the river intersect, the spectre of the elusive and prolific character Bill Stickers emerged from the silt.

In combination with an artist talk, this residency and exhibition also explored the possibilities and limitations offered by an independent research-led practice.
