What is this?

Semillero is an artist-led research working group. It is a series of peer-to-peer presentations across disciplines which are unfinished but ready for feedback. It is comprised of current postgraduate students who believe that a contemporary art practice should, alongside artwork outcomes, have supporting elements which are open, accessible and self-reflective. Semillero is a first semi-public, semi-private space to share unresolved questions and writing for encouragement, experimentation and informal peer review. We hope that exploring this feeds back into the practice as a whole to make it relevant, critical, and socially-engaged, as well as identifying and polishing material which will become public parts of research.

It is co-ordinated by me with support from Briana McCarthy and Charles Meek. Co-hosted by Ernesto Soto Madriñán. Photography by Dennis Ngan. It has featured work from across pathways, and included audience members across two year groups, as well as invited external speakers.
